Masvidal coach, Mike Brown, tests positive for COVID-19

July 7, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Raphael Marinho of Combate.com first reported that American Top Team head coach Mike Brown has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to corner Jorge Masvidal as he faces Kamaru Usman this Saturday at UFC 251.

Brown received a COVID-19 test in Las Vegas on Monday prior to proceeding on the flight to Abu Dhabi.  However, the COVID-19 test turned out positive.  Gabriel de Oliveira, another ATT coach also tested positive during the UFC protocol.  Both were unable to travel on the UFC’s charter flight.

Masvidal passed his COVID-19 test and flew on a private jet courtesy of his management team.

Payout Perspective:

Just in case you thought that the odds were stacked against Masvidal even further, this bit of news may hurt even more.  While Masvidal is a talented fighter, so is the champion Kamaru Usman.  Taking the fight on short notice and without his coach in the corner will make it a much difficult task on Saturday night.
