June 10, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC PPV Prelims ended up second in the ratings on cable Saturday but just drew 775,000 viewers on ESPNaccording to Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.

The 4-hour broadcast came up second to a CNN special Town Hall which included a special Sesame Street to help with children to discuss the protests.

The prelims drew a household rating of 0.29.

UFC Live, which aired prior to the prelims drew 190,000 viewers.  The UFC Countdown show which aired prior to UFC Live drew 140,000 viewers on ESPN.

The UFC 250 Prelims featured Alex Caceres as he took on up and coming prospect Chase Hooper.  The veteran Caceres defeated Hooper via unanimous decision.

UFC 250 PPV Prelims drew 0.29 in the A18-49 demo, 0.40 in the M18-49 demo, and 0.29 in the over 50 age group.

Notably portions of UFC 247 and 248 were preempted due to college basketball.

Payout Perspective:

Not the best overall viewership for the only live sports on Saturday night on ESPN. There was an extra hour tacked on to the telecast which may have attributed to the viewer numbers. Still, it is a big drop from last month. The good news is that it was huge with the young demo and was by far a popular destination fro young males scoring 0.40 and far and way more than any other program on Saturday.
