Professional Fighters League creates PFL Studios for new content

June 8, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Professional Fighters League announced the creation of PFL Studios as it will be creating its own content in light of its cancelled season.

According to a press release, the organization enlisted 16-Time Emmy Award winning producer and director George Greenberg to head the long-form content while PFL Chief Digital Officer Ghosh-Roy will produce short-form content across digital platforms.  There will be four new original series from PFL Studios to air on ESPN Platforms.

PFL Studios first project will include a seven-episode highlight-driven series and a 10-part series recapping last season.

Payout Perspective:

With the PFL cancelled until 2021, this is a good way to keep the brand going and create some awareness of its contracted fighters.  ESPN digital needs new content which was the likely reason to sign the PFL in the first place.  This will help PFL as a brand and MMA promotion as it gives an opportunity for shoulder programming and for viewers to get to know some of its fighters.
