UFC to honor company investor Kobe Bryant Saturday night

February 7, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Kobe Bryant will be honored prior to the UFC 247 PPV broadcast on Saturday night.  Dana White, in speaking with TMZ Sports, revealed that Bryant was an investor in the UFC.

He noted that 2019 was a great year in business for the UFC and investors received a distribution of the profits.  Bryant received the Wednesday prior to the Sunday of the helicopter crash which took his life, his daughter and seven others.

Bryant was also an investor in BodyArmor, a UFC sponsor.

Notably, Dominick Reyes wanted to pay homage to Bryant by wearing his jersey during fight week.  However, with Nike as the NBA jersey manufacturer and Reebok as the official sponsor of the UFC, it did not workout.  Still, Reyes will honor Bryant by writing his number 24 on his gear for the fight.

Payout Perspective:

Bryant as an investor was probably not known to most UFC fans which makes the homage that much more personal for the company.  Even if we did not know that he was an investor, Bryant’s passion for basketball, hunger to win and post-NBA career has been revered by many from all walks of life and all sports.

Wait, is this for real? Trump spent $60 million of our taxpayer funds to host a UFC fight and then is selling UFC coin to line his family’s pockets. The Trump corruption swamp is a mile deep.
