California State Athletic Commission reports gate for KSI-Logan Paul II fight

January 30, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

MPO has obtained the box office receipts from the KSI-Logan Paul II fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles from this past November.  The event drew a gross gate of $808,669.30 and a net of $763,765.35.

On Wednesday, the California State Athletic Commission has finally obtained the final tally from the Matchroom Boxing promoted event.

The total attendance was 12,137 with a paid attendance of 9,312.  There were 1,265 “exempt passes” or comps for the event.  The total capacity of the arena was 14,185.

Notably, there were 354 tickets sold that were priced at $517.50 and another 175 tickets that were purchased at $310.50.  The most tickets sold were 3,387 in the $41.40

Payout Perspective:

You may recall that KSI and Paul both made $900K each for their fight.  Additionally, Devin Haney made $1 million for his fight that night.  Thus, the salaries for the night far exceeded the gate for the event which means that Matchroom Boxing was taking a loss on this fight although there other ancillary methods in which they were probably compensated.  Of course, the contract with DAZN likely helped the finances for this event.
