UFC Busan attendance and bonuses

December 21, 2019 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC on ESPN +23 took place on Friday night/Saturday in Busan, South Korea.  In the main event, Chan Sung Jung KO’d Frankie Edgar in the first round.

The event took place at the Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea.  It drew 10,651 fans.  The gate was not disclosed.  The bonuses went to The Korean Zombie, Alexandre Pantoja, Charles Jourdain and Dooho Choi.  Jourdain and Choi drew Fight of the Night while TKZ and Pantoja had Performance Bonuses.  Each received $50,000 bonuses.

Jourdain pleaded for the bonus in an effort to move out of his parents’ basement and was granted his wish.

Notably, the last time the UFC was in South Korea, Benson Henderson defeated Jorge Masvidal in Bendo’s last fight with the UFC.  The event in Seoul drew 14,730.

Payout Perspective:

A good outing by Pantoja and TKZ as Jung overwhelmed the 38-year-old Edgar with his punching power.  Pantoja is a new entrant in the Flyweight division as a possibility for a title shot.
