Mexican actress of El Chapo doc invests in latest round of Combates Americas funding

April 4, 2019 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Variety reports that Kate del Castillo has invested in Combate Americas in the latest round of funding.  The Mexican actress is known for her Netflix documentary, “The Day I  Met El Chapo.”

Del Castillo has acquired an equity stake in Combate Americas in the company’s latest part of a $20 million Series B round of funding.  The company now has raised $38 million.  It was not disclosed of the amount the actress has invested although its being described as a “significant shareholder.”

It appears that del Castillo will take an active role in her new investment.  She will chair a new advisory board for the MMA promotion focusing on women in the sport.  While a boxing fan, del Castillo sees the investment as a way to support the Hispanic community.  Combate Americas draws a large Hispanic audience.

She will make her first major appearance for the organization on April 26 with the promotion holds an event at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.  The event will be televised on Univision and will be an all-women’s main card.

Payout Perspective:

The investment will help the promotion and del Castillo’s name obviously gives it some notoriety which will crossover to mainstream Hispanic audiences.  Also, it is a move to draw more females to watch as it looks like del Castillo will try to make a run at promoting the sport to women.

@Josh_HokitUFC You’re gonna cry you were cancelled by the left for “free speech”. And then you’ll post 200 times a day on Twitter until fox and friends invites you on to “tell your story”. And after that you’ll run for congress and your campaign will be centered on white grievance.

This is

Real question. Was this announced or is there an intern somewhere that is taking note of ever fighter’s follow and unfollow?

"Ian Garry is lying about me... I'm not sure why he made up a lie [about me filming him without permission]."
