UFC 215 draws sellout

September 10, 2017 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC 215 on Saturday was a sellout with 16,232 in attendance at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  The event created a live gate of $2,028,307.14.

The event was headlined by Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko after the original main event of Demetirous Johnson and Ray Borg was scratched due to the challenger’s health issues.

It was the second time that the UFC made it to the province.  UFC 149, which featured Urijah Faber versus Renan Barao drew 16,089 for $4.1 million.  The UFC 149 event took place in Calgary.

Payout Perspective:

Despite the controversy with the death of Tim Hague, the UFC is willing to come back to Edmonton after a sell-out on Saturday.  The attendance reflects the popularity of the sport in the area and the gate shows that it makes business sense to return.
