UFC Prelims draw 866,000 on FXX

August 1, 2017 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC 214 Prelims on FXX drew 866,000 viewers according to Nielsen.  The event peaked between 9:15 and 9:30pm with 1,072,000.

The event was moved to FXX due to Major League Baseball on FS1.  It’s worthy to note that the games Giants/Dodgers and Reds/Marlins drew 421,000 viewers and 276,000 viewers respectively while the prelims drew 866,000.

The Prelims peaked during the Renan Barao-Aljamain Sterling fight.  The main event featured Ricardo Lamas and Jason Knight.

In addition, the prefight show on FXX at 7pm ET averaged 307,000 viewers.  The post-fight drew 267,000 viewers on FS1 at 1am ET.  Also, on Friday at 8pm ET (one hour later than usual) on FS1, the UFC 214 weigh-ins drew 245,000 viewers which made it the 5th-most viewed live weigh-in on FS1.  Another 142,000 viewers watched the replay later that night on FS1 10pm ET.

Payout Perspective:

Good ratings considering the change in networks.  Also, the ancillary shows reflect more interest than usual.  This bodes well for a good PPV buy rate.  While I’m not sure it will hit 1 million viewers it certainly should be over 600K.
