The UFC 214 Prelims on FXX drew 866,000 viewers according to Nielsen. The event peaked between 9:15 and 9:30pm with 1,072,000.
The event was moved to FXX due to Major League Baseball on FS1. It’s worthy to note that the games Giants/Dodgers and Reds/Marlins drew 421,000 viewers and 276,000 viewers respectively while the prelims drew 866,000.
The Prelims peaked during the Renan Barao-Aljamain Sterling fight. The main event featured Ricardo Lamas and Jason Knight.
In addition, the prefight show on FXX at 7pm ET averaged 307,000 viewers. The post-fight drew 267,000 viewers on FS1 at 1am ET. Also, on Friday at 8pm ET (one hour later than usual) on FS1, the UFC 214 weigh-ins drew 245,000 viewers which made it the 5th-most viewed live weigh-in on FS1. Another 142,000 viewers watched the replay later that night on FS1 10pm ET.
Payout Perspective:
Good ratings considering the change in networks. Also, the ancillary shows reflect more interest than usual. This bodes well for a good PPV buy rate. While I’m not sure it will hit 1 million viewers it certainly should be over 600K.
