May-McG Promo Tour Announced, Showtime debuts hype video

July 7, 2017 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The road to Mayweather-McGregor began on Friday with promotional announcements from the UFC and Showtime’s first video for the August 26th fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The UFC announced via press release a world press tour starting Tuesday, July 11th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.  Tickets will be distributed for the tour but they will be free for the public.  In addition, the world tour will go to Toronto on Wednesday, July 12th, Brooklyn on Thursday, July 13th and London on Friday, July 14th.

Showtime’s promotional video is below:

Payout Perspective:

There will be no expense spared for this rather ambitious week of promoting the fight.  There may be some hope that the UFC 213 momentum will help this press tour…or vice versa.  I expect a raucous crowd for these pressers which might rival the Mayweather-Ricky Hatton tour but bigger.  Even the Pacquiao-Mayweather press tour was tame but with McGregor’s press conference antics, next week will be better than the actual fight.  I certainly think that the London press tour will be must-see.
