GGG-Jacobs to stream PPV online

March 15, 2017 by Jason Cruz 6 Comments

The GGG-Daniel Jacobs fight set for this Saturday will not only be available via traditional PPV, but will be online at TheRingtv.com.

The PPV will go for $64.95 online and will vary via traditional PPV depending on your distributor.

In addition to Gennady Golovkin, Roman “Chocalito” Gonzalez is scheduled to fight Srisaket Sor Runvisai on the same card.

Payout Perspective:

GGG’s first appearance on PPV in October 2015 against David Lemieux drew about 150,000 PPV buys.  He once again gets Chocalito on his undercard as the two are inextricably paired together on cards.  Will the online option help PPV buys?  Maybe for hardcore boxing fans that can purchase it on their phone or iPad.  While it’s a great option in this day and age, I don’t think impacts the overall buy rate.

Boxing is just such a dinosaur I don’t think mixes well with the internet other than watching Pernell Whitaker highlights on YouTube. A couple people might buy it that way if it’s profitable why not

What a fight card that was, the Chocolotito fight alone was amazing….fight of the year already, and what a performance by the Thai fighter! And then an amazing performance by Jacobs to make it ultra close with Golovkin. I had GGG winning 114-113 due to the knockdown and sealing the show in the 12th round….Jacobs was exhausted in the 12th and couldnt turn it up. Close fight, and Jacobs deserves all the credit in the world.

Jacobs has a true boxing story….someone should make a movie out of his career when its done. The man beat cancer, told he was never going to walk again let alone fight, and there he was last night almost beating one of the 5 best fighters on the planet, and taking the power of someone who has looked like a complete wrecking ball with legit one punch power and the skills to deliver. Good fight, Golovkin took it though. Jacobs made a big fan out of me last night however.

Very true, I think he gained a lot of fans and respect. Wonder if Canelo and Oscar are wanting GGG now.
