Combate Americas names former WWE star as president

October 12, 2016 by Jason Cruz 4 Comments

Combate Americas has hired former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, now known as Alberto “El Presidente” Rodriguez, as the new president of the Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts sports franchise.

Rodriguez was recently released from the WWE.  In his new role, he will be “actively involved in all aspects of athlete relations and development, from recruitment to enhancing their showmanship skills,” per the Comate Americas press release.

Rodriguez has a background in MMA prior to his pro wrestling career.  He also was a part of the Mexican National Greco-Roman wrestling team in the late ‘90s according to the press release.

Rodriguez will make his debut on Friday, October 14th.

Payout Perspective:

The move is a way to elevate the promotion and maybe his notoriety can grab a few viewers as well as influence some young up and coming fighters to join the promotion.

I don’t really mind him being the face of the company, he speaks well is semi ligit and is bilingual, so that’s going to help with a Hispanic product.

His girlfriend has just been suspended for the second time in two months, this time for apparent recreational drugs, she’s only 24 and was meant to be quite popular and sell a bunch of merchandise, let’s hope she’s OK.

@Josh_HokitUFC You’re gonna cry you were cancelled by the left for “free speech”. And then you’ll post 200 times a day on Twitter until fox and friends invites you on to “tell your story”. And after that you’ll run for congress and your campaign will be centered on white grievance.

This is

Real question. Was this announced or is there an intern somewhere that is taking note of ever fighter’s follow and unfollow?

"Ian Garry is lying about me... I'm not sure why he made up a lie [about me filming him without permission]."
