Cerrone-Lawler set for UFC 205 in NY per White

September 7, 2016 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

UFC President Dana White indicated that Donald Cerrone will fight Robbie Lawler as part of the company’s debut in New York at UFC 205.

Lawler lost his welterweight title to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 in July.  Cerrone, who recently signed a new contract with the UFC, defeated Rick Story at UFC 202.

White mentioned the Cerrone-Lawler fight as part of a radio interview with a Cleveland radio station.  The UFC has yet to send official confirmation of the fight.  UFC 203 is in Cleveland this Saturday.

Payout Perspective:

Cerrone is on a hot streak and is reaping the reward of resigning with the UFC without much talk about testing the free agency market.  He’s an exciting fighter and a favorite of the UFC.  Lawler is coming off a disappointing loss and should be motivated to do well and get back in line for a title shot.  This should be the start of some good fights for the debut in New York.
