PBC on Fox drew 1.45 million viewers on Saturday night per Television By Numbers. The event, which aired from 8pm to sometime past 10:30pm ET does not factor in the overrun.
The event drew a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demo and a 2 share.
According to Nielsen, the Nitro Games on NBC drew 1.52 million viewers for its 3 hour telecast. PBC on Fox ran over its 2 hour times slot with the main event not starting until past 10pm.
Notably, both PBC and the Nitro Games were behind programming on ABC and CBS.
PBC on Fox drew 2.24 million viewers for its Fox network debut in January. In April, PBC on Fox drew 1.51 million viewers.
The event featured Deontay Wilder as he defended his WBC heavyweight title against Chris Arreola. Wilder stopped Arreola after corner stoppage before the 9th round.
Payout Perspective:
I’m not sure what it says that an extreme sports telecast outdrew boxing but it happened. The ratings are on par with April’s event on Fox. But, we may see an uptick in adjusted ratings since the main event occurred after the time slot.

Horrible showing considering who was headlining. Wilder is supposed to be a star, but draws miserable numbers.
The writing is on the wall for PBC. I foresee them being out of business in early 2017. When extreme sports outdraw you for your big events, you know you have a problem.

I love the sport of boxing but getting tired of fighters ducking each other. People want too see Joshua vs Wilder, plain and simple. Give the fight fans want too see. Alvarez still dodging ggg.
If it true Manny vs Broner looks like the next super fight for boxing that will happen.
Feel sorry for Crawford, nobody going to purchase the ppv.
I predict a huge rating for Ufc on Fox because Holly Holm.
Half Life says
Manny vs. Broner is a superfight now? lol….if we’re talking about ducking Pac can quit ducking Crawford. Hopefully Arum isn’t lying when he said Broner priced himself out.
The Crawford/Postol PPV will do bad but the UFC on FOX card is gonna have average rating even with Holly Holm.
E Tops says
Broner vs Manny would do huge numbers on ppv. Maybe not a super fight but can do over a million on ppv.Maybe two if they really push it with tv shows and media. Casual fans would buy it.
Not too many fighters have a bigger name than Holly Holm in the Ufc. She will move the needle.
Half Life says
It probably would do well on PPV just because Broner is a big name though I don’t think it would touch 2 million(or anywhere close) I mean what’s the last boxing PPV that even did a million ppv buys(outside of Mayweather-Pacquiao)…do you have to go back to Mayweather/Alvarez or did one of those that was close to a million eventually get to a million + it when all the final numbers were in?
As far as Holly Holm is concerned sure she is a pretty big name but she’s facing a nobody. If anything the last months if not years in mma and boxing have shown us that it’s not so much just “draws” anymore it’s also the matchup and Holm/ Shevchenko is not a match up that isn’t getting many people excited. We’ll see next Sunday morning.

it will top out over 2m when the numbers are adjusted. Not bad for a card that only had 1 name on it, and a replacement fight for the povetkin debacle.
And unfortuntely the “boxing vs mma” postings have come back to this website….oh so immature and tiring.
Fight Fan says
Not bad as wil said for a one name show

“And unfortuntely the “boxing vs mma” postings have come back to this website….oh so immature and tiring.”
says the guy who called me d because he didn’t agree with my post. lol
tops E says
Areola lost all imprtant fights….he was beat by stivern, and wilder already beat stvern…its a stay busy fight
fight fan says
good point tops, lets not forget wilders fight with PovetRoid was cancelled
Wil says
And it looks like we wont be seeing Wilder for the rest of the year.
Half Life, if the shoe fits…..
Diego says
It did OK considering Arreola is known to be a shot fighter. A good payday for Wilder, a last payday for Arreola and solid ratings for PBC (is it enough to keep the lights on?) I didn’t have much in the way of expectations for this fight.
Caramel City says
Jason Cruz why no updates on the numbers?
PBC on FOX did 1.75M viewers on average i believe.
Also PBC on CBS peaked at 3.94.viewers. Most watched fight in combat sports
Fight Fan says
Carmel which card was that? Thanks for pointing it out
Caramel City says
Thurman-Porter on CBS last month peaked at 3.94M viewers which is the most since Thurman-Guerrero on NBC last year which did 4.56M
Wil says
I agree Jason Cruz, would be nice to see updated PBC numbers more than just the morning after. Apparently the last PBC on FOX show, according to boxingscene.com was far more watched than the preliminary numbers
