PBC on Spike TV this past Friday night drew 513,000 viewers a cording to Sports TV Ratings. The ratings show a 40% drop from its April 1 event.
In the main event, Andre Dirrell defeated Blake Caparello despite Direll being knocked down in the fight.
According to Sports TV Ratings, it registered just 180,000 viewers in the adult 18-49 demo.

Payout Perspective:
A bad night for boxing as it was overshadowed by Day 2 of the NFL Draft and the NBA Playoffs. Yet, the ratings reflect the diminishing appeal of PBC on Spike TV as it seems (based on viewership) that the boxing fan is not enthused by the fighters on these cards. The following night, PBC on Fox posted its worst ratings since airing on the network despite a rematch of a very entertaining first fight.

Nothing gets people interested in TV like the fights. Out of the flop that was May-Pac came a renewed interest in the sport of boxing again. Don and Bob are older now and the sport really relies on Oscar and Al Haymen and Floyd to continue on. Boxing strives to persevere..

UFC on FOX is not for their top draws, it is their secondary draws. The second these guys become big, they go to ppv, the same can NOT be said for boxing.

Diego, it isn’t just about not putting on compelling fights. It is a variety of things: they are overpaying their headliners, they don’t do the same numbers in the key demo that the UFC does which was their focus, and even if they were to put on compelling fights, the numbers eventually decline, then plateau at a certain point like the UFC’s did. If PBC were to put out that same fight card from their debut, they would be doing at best around 3m viewers, and likely less than that at this point. That is unsustainable when you pay guys 6,7,8m dollar purses and have heavy overhead costs.

More than likely what is going to happen is that the top 3-4 ppvs this year buys wise will be UFC’s. There is nothing on the horizon for boxing. This fight with Canelo-Khan is the biggest fight of the year for boxing and I don’t believe it will even hit 1m buys. Even if it does get around 1m, it certainly won’t be the biggest ppv of the year. No way it hits what the UFC has already done or what they will do when Rousey fights at MSG later this year.

More of your delusions. 196 has been estimated by Meltzer to have done somewhere in the range of 1.2-1.5m ppv buys. That’s also not included streaming ppv buys. MMAPAYOUT gets their number from Meltzer, they are just waiting for a final number to come in. This is the first of many 1m+ ppvs the UFC will have this year. If boxing hits 1 this year, they will be very fortunate.
