The debut episode of TUF 23 drew 479,000 viewers on FS1 Wednesday night according to Sports TV Ratings. It is the lowest rating for a debut episode on TUF since it began on FS1.
The debut episode featured the usual two-hour premiere which showed fights to get into the house. This season’s coaches are Joanna Jedrzejcyk and Claudia Gadelha.

TUF 22 (Conor-Faber) – 622,000 viewers
TUF 21 (Blackzillians-ATT) –490,000 viewers
TUF 20 (Pettis-Melendez) – 536,000 viewers
TUF 19 (Edgar-Penn) – 595,000 viewers
TUF 18 (Rousey-Tate) – 762,000 viewers
Payout Perspective:
It was an entertaining night of fights but the ratings reflect that either people are not into The Ultimate Fighter or they were just so many other things on television. Spring is always hard due to beginning of baseball, NBA and NHL playoffs. We will see how this season does in the ratings.

Ufc spends 10 mil in promoting a fight…does that include payola money for media people or they spend much more hahaha…its a marketing dependent business….
It is a show for hardcore fans of MMA…never going to attract much of an audience no matter what they do or who they do it with.
Even UFC-fanboys like d don’t watch it, only hardcore fans of MMA watch it.

Boxing reality show equivalents, such as The Contender, wished they could last this long. They failed only after a few seasons.
The younger demo has shifted to MMA.
Back when UFC events were on only every few months, TUF was the only MMA to consume in the meantime. Now we have UFC events on almost every week, coupled with Bellator and other events.
MMA has grown so much (and made the boxing trolls, like the ones here, feel insecure and threatened).
TUF has elevated the sport and has been going on for many years? The boxing reality shows? Failed miserably, even with legends and celebrities like Leonard, Dr La Jous and Stallone.

As long as it’s cheap to produce, which it probably is, and FS1 doesn’t have anything better to put on, which they probably don’t, then it’s OK.
Most reality tv shows are cheap so I imagine it is going to be around for a bit. Its been several seasons since I watched. Its just too much drama for me
