Romero latest to be caught by USADA for potential violation

January 13, 2016 by Jason Cruz 11 Comments

MMA Junkie reports that UFC middleweight Yoel Romero was notified of a potential anti-doping policy violation.  Romero would make the third fighter to be flagged for a potential violation of the UFC anti-doping policy.

The notification from USADA is a result from an “out-of-competition sample collection.”  Romero, who was in line for a potential title shot after defeating Ronaldo Souza at UFC 194.

Mirko Cro Cop and Gleison Tibau were the other UFC fighters to have been caught by the UFC’s anti-doping policy which into effect this past July.

Payout Perspective:

For many, Romero’s physique did not resemble a 38-year-old and the potential violation confirms the suspicion.  It’s likely that Romero will appeal the suspension considering he could be 40 if it is determined he committed a violation.

I didn’t think Mirko was caught with anything. I thought he admitted that he used something to heal from an injury and USADA suspended him.

@ Diego Yes. If I understand the whole thing well, Mirko was tested, thought he was caught, admitted using a substance, got suspended, but then his tests came back clean!
