UFC 195 attendance, gate and bonuses

January 2, 2016 by Jason Cruz 9 Comments

Dana White announced the attendance, gate and bonuses for Saturday night’s UFC 195 at the post-fight press conference.  As one might expect, the main event drew the Fight of the Night.

UFC 195 bonuses went to Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Stipe Miocic and Michael McDonald.  Lawler and Condit won for Fight of the Night and Miocic and McDonald won for Performances of the Night.  Each earned $50,000 each.

The attendance at the MGM Grand was announced at 10,300 with a gate of over $2 million.

The numbers were announced at the post-event press conference.

Payout Perspective:

The attendance and gate do not compare to last year’s UFC 182 which drew 11,575 for a gate of $3.7 million.  While Lawler-Condit present a very good matchup, this was an event for the hardcore UFC fan.  Thus, with the holidays, the gate and attendance were down.  The bonuses were on point and I would give honorable mention to Larkin-Tumenov, Poirier-Duffy and Abe Trujillo as others that may have deserved an extra $50K.

Posting my last years predictions and results:

    Top 5 predictions for 2015
    1. Zuffa sells UFC or Dana White is no longer running the organization
    Wrong
    2. Boxing has 2 PPVs that eclipse 2 million buys
Partly true, 1 PPV with 4.6 million buys, so technically true
    3. Cormier will defeat Jon Jones and defend his title 2 more times during the year
Partly true, He did not defeat Jones, but did with the belt and defended it once
    4. Fedor will fight at least 1 MMA fight
    TRUE
    5. Bellator will host an event at the Saitama Super Arena
Wrong, but Bellator fighters did end up fighting in Risen event

So there it is. Now to predictions for 2016. Will post this week.

    BrianSmasher, Thanks.

d, well, we can only try, but I know a valid prediction for 2016 will be that you and I will continue to argue about MMA!

    Jason,
Here are my 2016 predictions. Since I”m a long standing member of this blog, it may deserve a thread of it’s own 🙂 especially considering the veracity of my 2015 predictions.

    1. UFC will hold an event in New York at the MSG
    2. Risen Fighting will hold one more event in Japan, than fold
    3. UFC signs second official sponsor company to help increase fighter pay
    4. a) Boxing does not post a PPV with over 1 million buys the
    b) UFC posts its first ever 2 million buy rate
    5. A MMA star hosts Saturday Night live (my guess Holly Holms)

    Honorable mention predictions:
Joanna Jedrzejczyk continues to go undefeated
Fedor does not sign with the UFC and no one notices
Jones regains LHW strap but gives it up for a HW title shot

    @ mmaguru

    Great predictions!

    I’ll add two myself:

1- Joe Rogan leaves the UFC, which leads the latter to dismiss Goldberg and put in a new duo.
2- CM Punk announces he elects NOT to fight in the UFC and thanks everyone for their support, calling it an eye-opening experience.

    I’ll add a few myself:

1- GSP will speak in broken English in his next US or English Canada interview
2- The UFC fighters will fight in a cage this year
3- The winner of the Velasquez-Werdum fight will receive the hw title belt after they are declared the winner.

@jf, forgot about CM Punk. Agree 100% with that prediction. He would have been better off fighting for Bellator where they could have hand picked an opponent ala Herschel Walker. With the UFC, things are different especially with some of the journey men willing to call him out in public.

Although I like Joe and Goldy, I think both have had their day in the sun. Time for a change at the booth. What would be funny is if the UFC on Fox had a coaches corner like CBC with the NHL where Joe and Goldy could fill the positions of Ron and Don.
