Winner of Aldo-McGregor gets spot on EA UFC cover

December 5, 2015 by Jason Cruz 5 Comments

The winner of the Jose Aldo-Conor McGregor fight at UFC 194 next Saturday will earn the open spot on the new EA Sports UFC game coming out this spring.  It was announced prior to UFC 193 that Ronda Rousey would be one of the UFC fighters on the cover.

The announcement comes going into one of the biggest weeks of the year for the UFC.

Dana White made the official announcement on the Thursday morning edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Brilliant marketing by EA. Winner of Aldo-McGregor fight shares cover of new game with Ronda Rousey pic.twitter.com/lhNgM7CrNn

Payout Perspective:

I would have assumed that McGregor would be the overall choice to be on the cover with Rousey.  But, if he loses, then you would have two fighters coming off losses on the cover.  Thus, the winner of the title fight between Aldo and McGregor will get the cover.  The move should provide some value for EA Sports as it enters fight weeks as a method of activation around the event.  One would suspect that many are hoping a McGregor win as that would provide two of the most recognizable faces in the UFC.

Smart move to wait for the fight. You don’t want to have 2 losers on the cover

@Josh_HokitUFC You’re gonna cry you were cancelled by the left for “free speech”. And then you’ll post 200 times a day on Twitter until fox and friends invites you on to “tell your story”. And after that you’ll run for congress and your campaign will be centered on white grievance.

This is

Real question. Was this announced or is there an intern somewhere that is taking note of ever fighter’s follow and unfollow?
