EA announces Ronda Rousey on cover of UFC video game

November 14, 2015 by Jason Cruz 5 Comments

Ronda Rousey will be the first woman athlete to be on the cover of an EA Sports video game as it was announced that she will be on the cover of EA Sports UFC 2.  Rousey along with a yet to be named UFC fighter will be on the cover of the game that is scheduled to be release this spring.

Payout Perspective:

As most could probably deduce, Conor McGregor makes the most sense as the other fighter on the cover. Perhaps that announcement will be made during fight week leading up to UFC 194.  If nothing else, Rousey’s marketing power should aid the sales of this video game.  The last EA UFC video game suffered from poor reviews and sales which forced a price drop only after a month after its release.  We will see if Rousey’s brand can help sales with this version of the game.

Since Ronda just got outclassed by a former boxing champ maybe they should consider going with Conor instead.

What if he loses to Aldo?

It could be very awkward if EA attempts to remove Rousey now, after having made the announcement. Perhaps they keep Rousey and just add Holm. Maybe move the Holm image to the front position and Rousey image behind. That way Rousey would still be on the cover, and it would make still make sense from a sporting perspective. Especially with a potential rematch looming.

Honestly they should use the image of the the knockout head kick Holm delivered like when silva was on the cover they used his front kick knockout. I would find it disrespectful to Holm if they didn’t incorporate her into the cover after just dominating rousey..

I should point out that according to those at TKO that the ESPN/MVPW boxing deal is a revenue sharing agreement similar to the original AEW/Turner deal in 2019 and not a full paying media rights deal which Top Rank had and wasn't renewed.
