Report: UFC 192 draws 250,000 estimated PPV buys

November 1, 2015 by Jason Cruz 4 Comments

UFC 192 drew a reported 250,000 PPV buys according to Dave Meltzer’s latest Wrestling Observer newsletter.  The event featured Daniel Cormier defending his UFC light heavyweight championship against Alexander Gustafsson.

The estimated 250,000 PPV buys is the second-lowest buy rate for 2015.  The 250,000 estimated PPV buy rate is slightly better than the 205,000 PPV buys from last September’s UFC 178 PPV.   The rating is lower than the 375,000 for Cormier-Johnson this past May.

Payout Perspective:

The good news for the light heavyweight division is that Jon Jones is back and a forthcoming fight with Cormier should help with DC’s PPV popularity.  Still, the buy rate should be thought to be below expectations for a guy like Cormier.  Two boxing events on HBO and Showtime and college football that same night may have been a detractor for those thinking of purchasing the event.

its clear cormier isnt a big name. his fight with jones did well because of the press conference fight.

Cormier isn’t a big name because he’s a decent, respectful, modest person. Unless a fighter is a loudmouth, he can never be too popular in the UFC.

The UFC’s main cashcows have been milked dry and in the next couple of months we will see other obscure fighters come out of nowhere to steal the spotlight.

    I can’t wait for Fedor’s return.

Why is 191 missing? Was it that low?

Cormier is a solid name, the issue is that no one sees him as the true champ. When he fights Jones again without a press conference fight, they will do another 800k.
