NYT Fashion and Style section features Rousey

October 10, 2015 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

Ronda Rousey is featured in the New York Times Fashion and Style section as she discusses body issues in a recent interview.

Not since a GSP NY Times Fashion and Style article back in September 2010 has a UFC star received such coverage.  Although the UFC has been covered by the Times, most of this is found in the sports section.

The article is more of a general background on Rousey than focusing on body issues.  However, Rousey does talk about changing the perception of body issues for women.  Notably, Jessica Eye did a similar interview for Cosmopolitan.

The article is accompanied by a video found on the NY Times web site entitled, Ronda Rousey, the Antagonist.  In the short video she talks about not being worried being pegged as the bad guy and striving to be one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Payout Perspective:

Once again we see the elevation of the Rousey brand in mainstream media with a specific target to women.  While it’s easy to be cynical about the article since it’s about body issues and it’s likely that Rousey would never see the level of popularity and visibility if she was not attractive, it is a good message for young women.

Wait, is this for real? Trump spent $60 million of our taxpayer funds to host a UFC fight and then is selling UFC coin to line his family’s pockets. The Trump corruption swamp is a mile deep.
