UFC 190 attendance and bonuses

August 1, 2015 by Jason Cruz 14 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the attendance and bonuses for UFC 190.  Ronda Rousey led the bonus winners for her 34 second performance.

Rousey, Demian Maia, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueria all earned the $50,000 bonuses.  Maia submitted Neil Magny in the last fight of the UFC Prelims.  Rua and Nogueria earned Fight of the Night for the reprisal of their fight 10 years ago.

Dana White announced the bonuses at the post-fight press conference.

White also announced that the event drew 14,723 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.  As seems to be a constant with Brazilian cards, a gate was not announced.

Previus PPV events at HSBC Arena

UFC 142 – 10,605 (Aldo v. Mendes)

UFC 153 – 16,844 (A. Silva v. Bonnar)

UFC 163 – 13,873 (Aldo v. Korean Zombie)

Payout Perspective:

The gate was the second-highest with only Anderson Silva topping Rousey.  The card was sold on Rousey and many fans came to see her…for 34 seconds.  We shall see if Rousey’s star will equate to another outstanding PPV buy rate.

UFC 193 in Australia is being headlined by Lawler- Condit. Must have been dropped from 194 because they are targeting a possible Aldo-McGregor, Rousey-Tate fight at Cowboys Stadium for 194. Plenty of big ppvs left in 2015 for the UFC.

Attendance at the Barclay Center for the PBC Garcia fight….7,237 in a building that has a capacity of 19k. Pathetic. The gate was probably around 300-400k based on past gate numbers. Purses were over 3m. The only question at this point is when will they pull the plug on PBC. UFC low profile fight night shows typically do better gates with purses that typically don’t exceed 1m.

Second highest gate? no financial numbers were given and no comp numbers were given. Every Gym within 100 miles of rio were given free tickets. This could also be the second worst showing or even the worst showing BECAUSE WE DON’T HAVE FINANCIAL> Rousey looks like a fat pig and is losing her looks fast!
She will destroy Cyborg and I am still waiting for her to have a real fight!
D comparing the biggest star in the ufc to a pbc fight shows how desperate they are. hahahah Also the ufc cant sell a show out anywhere anymore and cant even come close in brazil with $5 tickets. Oh and free ppv bahahahahahahha

    Garcia- $1.25m
    Paulie- $550k
    Jacobs- $500k
    Mora- $225k

Go ahead and compare to UFC 190.
Sergio Mora probably made more than everyone on that card besides Rousey

Rousey made millions from that fight, and on top of that, UFC 190 was very profitable. The PBC show bombed at the gate, lost a few million and overpaid their fighters.

You are an idiot that doesn’t grasp basic business concepts. That isn’t a good thing seeing those purses. The only people that benefits is the boxers in the short term. This is not a profitable business.

Yep attendance doesn’t mean shit without a gate, especially with all the free tickets given away. @ Jason, a misprint?
