Chavez, Jr.-Reyes on Showtime Saturday draws 663,000 viewers

July 22, 2015 by Jason Cruz 14 Comments

ESPN’s Dan Rafael reports that Saturday’s Showtime event featuring Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. and and Marcos Reyes drew 663,000 subscribers with a peak of 707,000.  Chavez, Jr. earned a unanimous decision.

The fight was slightly better than his last outing, an April loss to Andrzej Fonfara.  That fight ran opposite to Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov on HBO.

Per Sports TV Ratings, the feature fight drew 663,000 subscribers between 11:51-12:35 AM ET.

On the undercard, the co-feature averaged 464,000 with a peak of 533,000 and Imam-Angulo drew an average of 433,000 with a peak of 460,000.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings are down for Chavez, Jr. as a feature as his fight with Brian Vera on HBO drew 1.39 million last March.  The Fonfara fight, JCC’s first fight on Showtime drew 618,000 viewers.  Perhaps it was the switch of networks or JCC losing a fan base or a combination of both.

Wow, this is horrible and pathetic. Chavez Jr is still a big name and these numbers are lower than low.

Sal is delusional because this fight was on in primetime and the UFC was on during the day because it was in Scotland.

You are such an idiot. Nothing you claim or state is rational.

Chavez may be a bum, but he still was drawing a crowd up until this fight. He headlined a ppv at one time that did 450k ppv buys. Bisping never did. Showtime gets better ratings than FS1 does as a whole. If the Bisping fight was on Showtime in primetime, it would have outdrawn Chavez Jr.

Bisping wouldve done better than Chavez on Showtime?
Bullshit. Rousey fought on Showtime and routinely only did 400k-500k viewers.
Her fight with Tate. 472k. Her fight with Kaufman, 529k.
Bisping would’ve done 232k on showtime.

You see D u fail to realize that you dont have stars. You don’t. You never have and never will.
MMA doesn’t sell. The UFC sells.

Brock was seller for the UFC and the UFC alone.
How many ppvs did he sell when he fought on Dynamite USA? A PPV that included Mr UFC himself Royce Gracie? Only 35k. Thats it.
They distributed 42,000 tickets for that event and only sold 3,000. Wow. Why? MMA doesn’t sell.

Fedor, as some call him the GOAT of mma, only sold 100k ppvs against Tim Sylvia a big match at the time.
On Strikeforce he only did 400k-500k on Showtime.
He once did like 747k on Showtime.
He did do 4m viewers on CBS, so did Kimbo tho. His next fight dwindled to 2m on CBS and then he fought on Showtime where he regularly did 400-500k.

Mayweather on CBS destroys every MMA event ever.

So Brock didn’t sell in his first fight. How well did Floyd sell his first 30 fights? Lol the fact is taking out fighter name value. People would rather see 2 guys fight under MMA rules than Box. That alone is the death nail for boxing!

The gayest is an insane retard. Attempting to rationalize with him is a waste of time to say the least. He will rant, make up total delusions, etc. He is a weird, freak that stalks people online and has no idea what the hell he is talking about.

Brock was already a huge star coming from the WWE.
Fedor was already a huge star in mma due to Pride.
Comparing it to Floyd doesn’t work.

If McGregor and Aldo left the UFC right now and fought in 2016 over at Bellator, theyd sell 350k ppvs.
If they went to some place like Affliction theyd sell 100k.
Its the UFC that sells its brand, they dont sell the fighter.

Chavez Jr. has been losing his core fanbase ever since he started being perceived as a spoiled diva who much rather live the party life than train. Freddie Roach at one point had to beg him to move his training from the living room to the Gym, seriously, the guy was barely training, barely making weight, all while preparing for big fights in his freaking living room carpet. The guy is talented but he is not going to go back to his previous ratings until he actually starts taking things seriously and shows it to his fans.

Wow his numbers cut in half, remember when this dude was gonna be a huge star for boxing? LOL.

Take away his last name and his padded typical bullshit boxing record and this guy doesnt even get on ESPN friday night fights.

He’s lived off his legendary fathers name for his entire career.
