UFC announces addition of several promotions to Fight Pass

January 3, 2015 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

At a press conference Saturday afternoon prior to UFC 182, the UFC announced the acquisition of libraries of several promotions of the past including CageRage, ExtremeChallengeMMA, XFO, UCMMA, Hook&Shoot & TKO, King of the Cage and Pancrase.

With the announcement, came the assurance that there would be no increase in price.  The addition will bring the UFC Fight Pass library to approximately 13,000 fights according to MMA Fighting.

At the press conference, UFC’s Chief Content Officer Marshall Zelaznik announced that there is at least one subscriber in 165 countries.  It was touted as the most far reaching over the top service.  Zelaznik also stated that Fight Pass was “beyond the industry average” when it comes to retention rates.

The new content will be slowly added to the Fight Pass library in 2015.

Payout Perspective:

The expansion of the fight libraries for UFC Fight Pass is a boon for those interested in the history of MMA and its past promotions.  It will provide education to those new to the sport and will please many hardcore MMA fans.  For those that got in at the UFC special price of $7 per month, it’s a great value.  The addition of these libraries is an example of how the UFC is trying to add and retain subscribers.  It will be interesting to see if the WWE Network adds new content in response to this announcement from the UFC.

well they needed this, but two things. firstly why announce something that is nowhere near implementation, just gonna make people frustrated knowing they gotta wait.

no fight pass events in first quarter of 2015 makes me wonder what people are subscribing to fight pass for….. the blackout of prelims this past weekend without any advance warning locked out a lot of people and left others out of pocket, short changed and with no legitimate means of watching the fights

don’t really care to watch the minor leagues either i thought ufc was the pinnacle yet they keep trying to dilute and tarnish their product as much as possible
