UFC and Reebok to announce fighter uniform deal

December 2, 2014 by Jason Cruz 5 Comments

MMA Junkie reports on a special announcement occurring this morning involving the UFC and Reebok.  The announcement will reveal the UFC’s long awaited, anticipated uniform deal.

MMA Payout will have more details after the press conference.  The live stream for the conference is at MMA Junkie.   It is expected that Ronda Rousey will be the center of the uniform deal as the UFC indicated this several months ago.

All this means is the UFC will make more money from Reebok and the fighters will make less money as they can’t earn the same kind of sponsorship money they were previously making. For example, if St-Pierre comes back he’ll be dropped by UnderArmour

Very good point, Jesse. I can’t imagine the fighters being happy about this!

@JF fighters like Lawler and Rockhold are suffering the most. They haven’t earned massive amounts of money yet are developing names with big brands like Adidas but are now being told, tough luck you have to drop it.

‘(U). (F).ight (C).heap, we own your rights for a lifetime and no more sponsors for you!, but here is $10 dolla bonus for being a good company man’. You can always count on the UFC on getting in the way between the fighters and their right to freely negotiate their worth with potential sponsors or just about anything or anyone.

I wonder if a lot of the current sponsors will end up with Bellator and if some companies like Tap Out will suffer financially from this!
