MMA Payout has learned that the second episode of TUF 20 on FS1 scored an average viewership of 574,000 viewers. The average is up slightly (7%) from the debut episode which aired last Wednesday on the network.
According to a Nielsen source, it’s only the sixth time in the twenty seasons of TUF that the second episode drew more than the debut episode. Wednesday’s episode grew in the important adult 18-49 demo from the first (359,000 viewers) to the second episode (364,000 viewers).
In offering a quick comparison from the start of this season to the start of TUF 19, the second episode from the Penn-Edgar season drew only 320,000 viewers.
Episode 1: 536,000 (on FS1)
Episode 2: 574,000
Payout Perspective:
The good news is that the second episode drew higher than the debut episode for Episode 20. One might have expected a higher bump considering the additional viewing opportunities for TUF 20’s debut episode which re-aired Sunday on Fox before or after NFL Football in many markets. Still, the ratings are better than TUF 19 at this point. We’ll see if there will be additional efforts to promote TUF on Fox.

It’s time to kill the TUF format. Next year will be ten years (!) since the UFC started using it. Unfortunately, Zuffa is terrified of actually creating something new and just keeps plodding along with the same old thing.
Tops has a point, “The Contender” and “The Next Great Champ” are doing much better than TUF. HAHAHAHAHA!!!
Boxing has a little secret the UFC can’t figure out its simple if something doesn’t work stop doing it!! But I guess when you sold your self to a network on the idea that tuf would do millions you kind of have to keep eating the shit sandwich. The ufc can’t put tuf to bed because its a major part of their fox deal. Funny how women’s mma does really well over mens, Now who’s watching this???

Boxing’s little secret is the fact that they completely lost their marketshare and the only year they have saved a little face is this one because their competitor lost their biggest stars, had tons of injuries, etc. 2015 will be another year for mma over boxing ppv wise. Simple evolution.
By the way, boxing continues to do things that don’t work, that is why the sport is failing and losing their base. Go look at their control over the market 20-30 years ago fag boy.

Might be a win for FS1 but not for UFC… Going from 1.5M viewers a season to 0.5 isn’t good no matter how you spin it. UFC should hire Mark Burnett or some other reality guy and come up with something fresh and intriguing, but we all already know that.
Mix and Leon have it correct. These are horrible ratings and no where near what Fox anticipated at the beginning of the deal. At the same time they remain better than any alternate programming they could put on in the timeslot. So until they get better ratings from something else, the TUF franchise is safe. 4 seasons ago I started fast forwading thru the show and just watching the fights. Last year I stopped watching all together. But i have watched the entire 1st 2 episodes this season. UNless it improves, I will probably start going back t the fast forward approach.
Yeah Leon good point, the only thing Mark Burnett couldn’t get going was “The Contender” which failed miserably, yet TUF has done 20 seasons.
