MMA Junkie reports that former MMA fighter Randy Couture will appear on the next season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Couture joins Chuck Liddell as the only MMA fighters to appear on the show.
The ballroom dancing reality shows pairs celebrities with pro dancers. Couture is paired with Russian pro dancer Karina Smirnoff.
Most recently, Couture is featured on Spike TV’s reality show, “Gym Rescue” with Frank Shamrock. He also was on the forgettable season of Bellator MMA’s reality show “Fight Master.” In addition, Couture starred in the “Expendables” movie series. The last Expendable movie also included Ronda Rousey.
NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip, Olympian Lolo Jones and former Fresh Prince star Alfonso Ribeiro are also slated to compete in Season 19.
Payout Perspective:
Certainly, Couture’s post-MMA career fame (i.e., The Expendables franchise) will help non-MMA fans recognize him. It will be interesting to see how well he does on the show. We’ll see if there’s any mention of his participation on the show from Bellator.
Logical says
Nice to see another MMA fighter featured there, there has been a lot of boxers starting with the very first season.
“Olympian Lolo Jones”? Is she still a virgin? Not if Couture has anything to do with it… LOL
