UFC airs NSAC hearing on Fight Pass

June 19, 2014 by Jason Cruz 13 Comments

Before the big news came down with Bellator, the Nevada State Athletic Commission held a meeting on Tuesday with notable ramifications for UFC fighters.  Also of note, the meeting was aired on the UFC’s Fight Pass.

Chael Sonnen’s temporary suspension and the fact finding behind Wanderlei Silva’s failure to take a drug test were the main points of interest for the commission meeting.  The commission did not hear from Vitor Belfort since he was not applying for a license.

The live streaming of the commission hearing was the first time the UFC utilized its digital platform for something other than its own content.

Wandy is up next in front of the NSAC. It’s LIVE on Fight Pass if you want to see it.

Payout Perspective:

Recently, the UFC announced that InvictaFC past and future events would be available on Fight Pass.  This seems like another extension of providing content to subscribers.

The UFC indicated that it may seek to stream future commission hearings dependent on the relevant content and interest.  Is this something that subscribers would be interested in?  It is a low cost benefit for Zuffa and would provide timely information when fans usually seek twitter for such updates.  If you had Fight Pass, you could tune in.  The obvious drawback, in part, is that you would be witness to some of the issues UFC contracted fighters have with respect to their drug issues.  Still, its a pretty fair idea.

They should show UFC board room meetings where Dana yells and throws coffee cups at the accountants when they bring bad news in front of the Fretitta’s lol
And we can watch Dana beet up some poor assistant when he’s having a bad day.

Yeah, Old Dirty Bob Arum must have had you sucking his dick overtime for the past 7 years while boxing was getting doubled in ppv annually. Now when mma’s 2 biggest stars are out, finally boxing is having a year where they may do more. Boxing has been around for over 100 years, mma for 20. Pretty pathetic that a sport that wasn’t even on in demand ppv cable 15 years ago, destroyed boxing for 7 straight years on ppv. Those board meetings must have been traumatic for you. Hahaha.
