TUF Nations Finale attendance, gate and bonuses

April 17, 2014 by Jason Cruz 7 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the attendance, gate and bonuses from Wednesday’s TUF Nations Finale from Quebec City.  The event drew slightly over 5,000 for a gate of $340,000.

The event which started Wednesday afternoon took place at the Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec.  Tim Kennedy defeated Michael Bisping in the main event of the card.  The official attendance announced at the post-fight presser was 5,029 and a live gate of $340,000.  There was no breakdown as to comp tickets.

In addition, the bonuses for the night were announced post-fight and included Dustin Poirier, Akira Corrasani, K.J. Noons and Ryan Jimmo.  Each received the standard $50,000 bonus on top of their salaries

Fight of the Night:  Poirier-Corrasani

Perrformance Bonuses:  Noons and Jimmo

Poirier, Noons and Jimmo all scored stoppages to earn their bonuses.  Even in a losing effort, Corrasani was entertaining having fought off a Peruvian necktie attempt late in the first round.

Payout Perspective:

While it may have seemed like the attendance at the TUF fights last night were more than the attendees in Quebec City, the UFC has acknowledged the tough sell to put on fights mid-week.  It is especially difficult when the card starts mid-day when most fans are at work.  But, these fights are mainly for television (and Fight Pass).   It was the first time the UFC traveled to Quebec, so one might question why more people would not come to the fights even if they showed up later.  As for the bonuses, Poirier, Noons and Jimmo were all very impressive and there’s no debate with their bonuses.

A lot of fans dislike Fight Pass right now but it is an amazing deal and I think it will catch on. $10/month is 2 craft beers! I’d love to see the Fight Pass numbers and see where it goes within a couple years.

I agree Matt. I think the problem with the perceived public opinion of Fight Pass. Is there is a lot of douche bag kids who claim to be fans who have always stole UFC content. It chaps their ass they cant get it as easy as a PPV or free on tv. They finally have to pay for some fights and they cant handle it. IF the sport isn’t high enough on your list of priorities to free up the money to pay for the fights. Then you are not a fan.

I love Fight Pass. I have sit and laughed my ass off at TUF Brazil and the antics of Chael and Wandy. Even watched an episode of the train wreck that is TUF China. Not to mention the live events. Plus it will get more and more events each year as the UFC expands.

Fight pass is a piece of crap without question, only a retarded fanboy can endure the mediocre ‘live’ content that is found in there. And as far as their “original” content, well… I rather watch paint dry or talk about the weather than endure through ZUFFA’s highly unoriginal crap infested “original” series. The only reason i subscribed was for the Fight Library, but the site is so glitched out and has so many technical issues that is just not worth the hassle.

I think FightPass is awesome! Its dirt cheap, if gives you all the ongoing events plus an incredibly vast library of not only UFC fights but Pride, Strikeforce, WEC, and other organisations. I’ve experienced zero glitches with download time being instantaneous. All for 10 bucks? How can you go wrong

Logical Obviously you’re not a MMA fan but a Fight Nmae recognition Fan, the type that goes to fights and only shows up for the main card and never the prelims. Every card NO MATTER WHO HEADLINES will always have some fantastic fights on it. Maybe you should try watching an entire card from beginning to end. Go watch paint dry and get off these sites and quit bitching about something you have obviously NEVER watched. Seriously Maybe you’re just angry because you can’t illegally stream Fight Pass like you can other cards or PPV’s , maybe you just can’t afford the whopping 10 bucks a month? Whatever it is grow up.

Paying $10 a month so you can watch what was formerly Facebook prelims and the worst and most unimportant fights on a card is stupid and a ripoff.
