Dana White-produced reality show debuts this Thursday

January 19, 2014 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The LA Times reports on a new reality television show about boxers produced by Dana White.  The 8 episode season debuts Thursday nights on the Discovery Channel.

“The Fighters” focuses on the fight scene in Boston where White grew up.  The reality show is said to be different than other boxing reality shows in that it is more “gritty.”  This likely means it will show more than just the glamorous life of being in the ring and the fame that comes with it.  The show will feature boxing trainer Peter Welch and his gym in South Boston.

Payout Perspective:

I am always interested in new sports-related reality shows and the preview looks like something with promise.  It’s not clear whether White will be on the show but the concept is interesting.  I’d rather this not be a gimmicky tournament show but more of a “behind the scenes” type show focusing more on human interest stories which should appeal to a broader audience.  We will see if this project will lead to more things outside of MMA with White’s backing.

H/t to MMA Payout reader Tops for reminding us about this upcoming show.

They did this for Khabib in his last fight

hayjive @hayjivepicks

Never seen such blatant corruption at a championship weigh in. Khamzat is one of the last to the scales and it takes all of 3 seconds for commission to shout “185” he doesn’t touch the scale at all, scale doesn’t even settle. Just gives him the weight. Insanity…

It is comical the UFC can be the most political sports organization in the history of American sports for clear aims (Ali Act, WH event) while promoting a candidate w/ the most extreme agenda in 50 years and when called to task for that help, pretend they're helpless observers.

Ali Wong's ex-husband got off easier than Russini's current husband.

Now that this Vrabel-Russini thing is full blown, will DC chill tomorrow on the #UFC weigh-in show with Sanko or no
