MMA Payout has learned that the ratings for Bellator 97 scored a 679,000 viewer average. In addition, the sixth episode of Fight Master made a comeback with the live MMA help as it averaged 629,000 fans.
Bellator 97 was the biggest event on Spike thus far as it had three of its top stars on the card: Ben Askren, Mo Lawal and Michael Chandler. The show peaked in ratings at 856,000 viewers after it was announced that Rampage Jackson would fight Tito Ortiz in Bellator’s first PPV.
Fight Master made a comeback from its last two episodes with 629,000 viewers tuning in.
Episode 3: 676,000 viewers – DVR + 3; 810,000 viewers
Episode 4: 505,000 viewers – DVR + 3; 607,000 viewers
Episode 5: 441,000 viewers – DVR +3; 498,000 viewers
Episode 6: 629,000 viewers
Payout Perspective:
The Fight Master ratings were helped by the live event as it retained most of the audience that saw the live fights. Some might be concerned that the Bellator 97 ratings did not crack the top 100 in cable ratings for Wednesday night. But, the live card on Spike TV started at 4pm on the west coast which may have contributed to the low ratings. Also, while it may be Bellator’s biggest show with respect to its top guys, the casual MMA viewer probably have never seen Askren or Chandler. Bellator did have all three win in impressive fashion which, for Bellator, should mean that more buzz will come about for the three and the next time any of them appear on a Bellator card, more viewers will tune in.

Great news for bellator…..Ortiz and rampage are still name fighters…Viacom should have this two promote more on mainstream media….they’re talent in self promotion would be effective…and no Dana white trying to draw attention to himself in promoting lol……

i can’t remember the last time bjorn or anyone at bellator dropped a dozen f bombs in one interview. At least they have class. i mean dana white is on the record talking about how whitey bulger ran him out of boston. what was he doing running with thay crowd anyway? now he is partnered up with casino moguls. What a lowlife.

Is that you ace? the company man! Hahaha!

Specifically, the “what was he doing running with thay crowd anyway?” line that is off base. You infer he was a fellow mobster, which needs some backing up. You’ll not find any evidence, therefore you just lose any credibility with unjust smears.

Just ask Sugar Ray Leonard about Bjorn Rebney and a certain dead dog and you will see what a classy guy he is.

Dana wasn’t “running around with Whitey Bulger”. He was running a gym and he said one day 2 guys showed up at his gym and said he owed money. He didn’t have any money at the time. Months later he got a phone call saying to pay or else and he left town. This was how those guys extorted people. They would do it to every business in their area. You discredit yourself every time you open your stupid inbred mouth.
aintitthetruth says
White probably did owe them money. he shouldn’t get caught up with loan sharks. and in south boston? he must have really needed that money.
aintitthetruth says
Sounds like you are very familiar with the situation and are quick to defend whites every move. You shill.

Bellator will be out of business in a year. Bringing in UFC has beens is stupid. You couldn’t pay anyone to watch that crap. Say what you want about Dana White, but he knows MMA. Viacom are clueless. This is just like TNA.
