UFC on FX 8 numbers

May 18, 2013 by Jason Cruz 3 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the bonuses for Saturday’s UFC on FX 8 which were the standard $50,000.  In addition, attendance, but not gate, was announced at the post-fight press conference.

Bonuses

Fight of the Night: Lucas Martins and Jeremy Larsen

Submission of the Night: Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza

KO of the Night:  Vitor Belfort

Attendance was announced at 7,642 for the arena which has a 15,000 person capacity and usually houses volleyball and futsal.

Payout Perspective:

No surprises with the bonuses for submission or KO.  The crowd was into the fights the whole night and had the Fight of the Night (Martins/Larsen) to cheer for from the beginning as it was during the Facebook prelims.

Kind of surprised by the low attendance. Isn’t Vitor a huge star in Brazil?

“Sold-out” or sold-out? And if it was the latter, why would they use such a restrictive configuration?

Interesting - in the early 2000s, HBO had to defend "de facto" promoter allegations in front of Congress. If DAZN uses licensed promoters to organize the fights, it's hard to call them a "promoter." SRL signed deals with ABC and HBO without having a promoter, so it's been done.
