Munoz out, Bisping in for UFC on Fox 2

January 18, 2012 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

MMA Junkie reports that Mark Munoz is out of the UFC on Fox 2 co-main event with Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping will step in. ESPN’s Josh Gross tweeted that Munoz injured his elbow and will require surgery.

Originally, Bisping was set to face Demian Maia on the same card. Maia will now face Chris Weidman. The undefeated Weidman gets a shot on network television thanks to the opening.

Payout Perspective:

Another injury hampers a UFC card. But this time, in might not hurt ratings. The new matchup should be more of a draw because of the two “personalities” and the trash talk that should help sell the fight leading up to UFC on Fox 2. Disappointing for Munoz as he is one of the nicest fighters in MMA and hopefully he will be back soon. Bisping, a direct opposite to Munoz, is willing to talk trash about Sonnen. And Sonnen, who has been relatively muted due to the respect he had for Munoz has no qualms about speaking out against The Count. Its a definite help to the card and there will be a sufficient amount of talking (without overkill) up to next Saturday night.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.

Many years ago, I made a joke on twitter about Chiesa. It was reported that he was drunk in the octagon at a show and had to be escorted out or something.

I tweeted: “Classic Mike.”

That was it. No tagging him. That was it. It was just a joke 🤷‍♂️.

Anyway, years later I was
