More than 110,000 votes were cast by fans from around the world, with Silva garnering the largest percentage among his fellow competitors.
Payout Perspective:
Silva was unveiled as the cover athlete Saturday night at UFC 136. It may be surprising to some that Silva beat out GSP and Jon Jones. But, Silva is a big draw if you consider that he drew mainstream sponsors (Nike, Burger King, Budweiser) at UFC 134. The timing could not have been better considering Chael Sonnen’s “loser leaves town” post-fight interview which should garner more interest in this possible showdown Super Bowl weekend.
