UFC 132 Prelims on Spike TV: 1.2 million viewers

July 6, 2011 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

MMA Junkie reports that UFC 132’s prelims on Spike TV averaged 1.2 million viewers. The broadcast received a 0.8 household rating an a peak of 1.3 million viewers.

Via MMA Junkie:

The Spike TV broadcast was the No. 2 rated cable program in its timeslot among men 18-49 and men 18-34 (behind only NASCAR racing on TNT). (Melvin) Guillard and (Rafael) dos Anjos both picked up stunning knockout wins during the live broadcast.

The ratings are disappointing considering its the second lowest average viewership for the UFC prelims on Spike.

Payout Perspective:

Not sure if it was due to the holiday weekend or the fact it ran opposite NASCAR, but its unfortunate that more fans didn’t tune in to watch the prelims as it had two great knockouts. Also disappointing was the fact that June’s airing of the UFC Prelims were the third highest on Spike. It will be interesting to see whether July’s ratings are an indication of the buy rate for the PPV.
