Jones and White appear in Bud Light commercial

June 5, 2011 by Jason Cruz 1 Comment

UFC Light Heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Dana White appeared in a new Bud Light commerical which aired this past weekend. The commerical is a part of extending its partnership with the UFC when it renewed its sponsorship as official beer of the UFC.

If you follow Dana White’s video blog, he visited Jones on the set of the commercial last week. Jones has a line in the commercial as he is kicking pads with Dana White standing behind him. It then cuts to others in the commercial and then at the end it cuts back to Jones and White with a couple lines as it looks like they are having a couple Bud Lights. The commercial is part of Bud Light’s plans for its sponsorship of the UFC’s “Battle in the Bayou” set for September.  I’m actually in New York this week and the UFC-Bud Light is advertising the “Battle in the Bayou” fight in Times Square.

Payout Perspective:

The Bud Light commercial is a big step in the right direction for Jon Jones and the UFC. It furthers Jones into the mainstream and as a face for the UFC. When I saw the commercial it played during the pregame of the NBA Finals. So, it certainly introduced Jones to a different audience. There has been some debate as to whether White should appear in the commercial as perhaps Jones should have his own spotlight. I went back on forth on this one, but I think White is still the face of the UFC and I think for the initial Bud Light commercial, White was needed so that people could associate Jones with the UFC.

It was also important for White to be in it because it wasnt a Jones commercial from the looks of it. As it is the UFC and bud lite giving away a trip to the UFC. This was more to show the partnership between the UFC and Bud Lite than it was to use Jones as an endorser. But it doesnt hurt Jones at all to be in it. 2 birds, one stone!

Trump is graded on such a big curve. I’ve never seen anything like it. Dude is incoherent, racist, has numerous visible health problems including being so old that he falls asleep on camera all the time, and started a war that has made everything worse for everyone. And yet.
