UFC Sheds Light on Expo, Launches Website

April 14, 2010 by Kelsey Philpott Leave a Comment

The UFC has announced that this year’s UFC Expo will be even bigger and better than last year’s event. Fans can expect appearances from over 30+ UFC and WEC fighters, in addition to a grappling tournament and a host of training sessions, keynote speakers, interactive fan events, and over 150 exhibitors.

Payout Perspective:

The Expo hasn’t received a ton of press and is often overlooked, but believe me when I say this type of event is exactly the kind of tool the UFC can leverage to cultivate a better relationship with its fans. The meet and greets, interactive demos, and live events – all planned around a fight event – go a long way towards developing strong customer loyalty.

Sure, the casual fan may not be in attendance, but the greatest hope any growing sport can have is to “go deep” with its existing fan base and improve that relationship as much as possible. Then the sport can motivate those fans to bring their friends and continue to spread the word. It’s happened in MMA a great deal already, but more work must be done.

The us number for the McGregor show was 6.1. Milllion. White House show was 7 million. Rousey fight was just over 9. But Netflix has a big advantage in homes.
