Lawyers for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. advised a federal court judge that a scheduled exhibition against Greek kickboxer Mike Zamidis would not be going forward on Saturday due to the lawsuit filed by CSI Entertainment. The company had filed a motion for a temporary injunction to prevent the fight from happening.
Last week CSI Entertainment filed a lawsuit attempting to stop Mayweather from participating in the fight. The lawsuit claims that Mayweather took advances of $4.5M in consideration for the Tyson and Pacquiao fights.
Mayweather claims that he never received a cash advance. Moreover, he argued that he signed the deal to fight former Greek kickboxer Mike Zamidis in May 2025. The signing of the deal with his business partners, Frist Apex Ventures, occurred in August 2025 according to the court filings. However, Mayweather points out in his brief that he has sued his business partners for alleged fraud.
On Thursday, Mayweather’s attorney filed a letter with the Court advising that the fight scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled.

The letter read, “[B]ecause Plaintiffs’ Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece as planned on Saturday evening. Plaintiffs’ commencement of this action and filing of the Motion, as well as their legal threats domestically and in Greece, have effectively stopped any promotion of distribution plans for the event and halted ticket sales.
Judd Burstein, a well-known boxing litigator, submitted a letter to the Court asking that it grant the Temporary Restraining Order with the idea that the sides could negotiate an agreement for the Tyson fight in September 2026. Thus, it would prevent Mayweather from seeking out a new fight while CSI gets its chance to reap the benefits of the Tyson fight it had planned for this spring.
While its clear that Mayweather is looking to continue fight, his continued legal issues are a hindrance. Notably, CSI Entertainment’s negotiating with Mayweather’s (former) business partners may present an obstacle. According to Mayweather’s Declaration, he never received an advance for the fight although one might assume it went to his business partners who were likely thought to be authorized representatives.
Ironically, Manny Pacquiao has had issues with people not really authorized to negotiate for him, work with promoters or business people to secure bouts. Mayweather will likely fight again, but under what promoter and with whom?
An interesting sidenote to this case is that CSI Entertainment discovered that Mayweather had brokered the Pacquiao fight to be streamed on Netflix through EverWonder Studios. Instead of immediately suing Mayweather/EverWonder due to the fact it believed it had the rights, it tried to work with Mayweather.
MPO will continue to monitor the issues and see where Mayweather ends up fighting.
