Alex Periera accused of sexual assault, coercive sexual encounters, stalking

June 14, 2026 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

According to a report from a German MMA reporter and now the CBC, UFC heavyweight Alex Periera is being accused of sexual misconduct in Miami by two women. In a deposition, the former UFC champion has denied the claims.

Periera is set to face Cyril Gane on Sunday at the UFC White House. Maike Backhaus is being credited with breaking the story.

The case was filed in July 2025 in Miami related to allegations of domestic violence. It was filed by Merle Christine, a german MMA presenter, who began a relationship with Periera a year prior. Christine sought a protective order against Periera. According to the CBC report, Christine left her husband for Periera as she moved to Miami to be with him. Once she moved with him, she indicated that his attitutde toward her changed. According to Christine, he became more controlling and demanded sex of her. She alleged he used Apple air tags to know of her location.

In a January deposition, Periera denied any wrongdoing. And, indicated that he never restrained her from leaving. He denied using air tags although he indicated he recorded an argument they had.

She claimed that members of his team requested that she not break up with him before a fight “to preserve his mental state.”

Another woman accused Periera of sexual assault when the 38-year-old was 21 years old. The woman claims it happened at a New Jersey hotel following a UFC event.

Payout Perspective:

MPO will continue to follow this but its clear that the news comes in line with Pereira’s co-main event fight on Sunday. It is interesting that the court filings occurred in July 2025 and we only hear about it now, almost a year later. Pereira’s deposition took place in January and no news on that as well. While it can be spun as a case of “he said, she said” its interesting it was not brought to light earlier.

Yes, the Pulitzer-winning journalist is the source we should ignore, not the people who continue to want access to the LA sports team they cover. This was a dumb thing to think and an even dumber thing to tweet.
