White doesn’t stick to the bit

April 27, 2026 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Dana White is an up-and-coming figure in the Republican party and despite him negating the fact that the UFC event at the White House is not political – it is. But, his reaction to the alleged shooting at Saturday White House Correspondents’ Dinner lets you know he doesn’t like sticking to the bit.

For those that don’t venture into politics, the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner included president Donald Trump for the first time ever. Prior to the start, secret service rushed the president and many of the administration’s cabinet out of the room due to a shooting that had happened outside. Notwithstanding the veracity of the actual threat, many prominent figures remained in the ballroom where the dinner was to take place.

There is video of the head of the UFC sitting and watching the actions take place while secret service are shuttling people out of the room and others are hiding under a table. “It was f*cking awesome,” White stated of the alleged assassination attempt.

Immediately after the alleged attempt, Trump appeared at the same venue to argue the need for his White House Ballroom (notably he only has 3 years left to be president according to the current constitution). One would assume if this was a plot to murder the president he might have been ushered out of the building.

Suspending belief, we go back to White who seemed nonplussed about the potential murdering on Saturday night. His reaction seems to coincide with that of an individual who knew there was no potential threat and his life would not end in a hail of gunfire. Whether he was just that confident in the U.S. Secret Service or he was not going to give into tyranny, it goes with the White character. He does not go along with the show. During COVID, White was rarely seen wearing a mask. In this instance, he was observing the chaos.

In less than 50 days, White will have to commit to the bit as he will try to sell people to come to UFC 250 in June. Can he convince people that UFC is not politically tied to the current administration. Or, will people see through what it is.
