Night two of Wrestlemania 42 was much better than night one. However, a peculiar production twist came during the broadcast when a man by the name of Adam Weitsman sat next to Wade Barrett and Michael Cole at the commentary desk.
According to a report by Awful Announcing, the man is a “recycling magnate turned crypto billionaire.” and was “guest commentator.” Except, Weitsman did not utter a word during his time at the desk. While he did have a headset, he had no microphone.
The guest spot was not explained to the audience and many suspected he paid to sit at the desk.
On Location, the TKO-owned company, that puts together bespoke side adventures for events like Wrestlemania did not necessarily advertise this “opportunity” but one would assume (as Ted DiBiase proclaimed) “everyone has a price.” On Location did advertise a package where 12 guests could ride with Cody Rhodes on his bus for a tour of Las Vegas landmarks as well as have some time with Cody. The cost was $9,950 per person. In the past, there have been closer “meet and greets” with WWE stars such as the Miz, The Undertaker and John Cena. It also sells opportunities to walk down the ramp to the ring before the event starts.
One has to think this “guest spot” would cost more than any of these.
These new “add-ons” cost a lot and as AA suggests are “a brazen cash grab by WWE.”
It will be interesting to see how much On Location made over the weekend selling these enhanced packages.
