On Friday president Donald Trump made the proclamation that they would be building a 100,00 seat stadium for fans to come and watch (presumably on screens) UFC at the White House.

The announcement came as a side story to the actual announcement for the presser that he wants Washington D.C. to host an IndyCar race on the city streets of DC this August.
As with most things, the actual statement had to be dissected and regurgitated for the press to make it sound coherent. It is highly unlikely that a permanent structure would be erected in less than 5 months to hold this event. Moreover, there’s no way that any entity could obtain the necessary permits, etc.
Notably, Dana White proclaimed that TKO/UFC would be paying the costs for the UFC White House event. He estimated that the costs would exceed the UFC Noche event.
I’m pretty sure it did not include this “stadium.” Which one shall assume will fall on taxpayers because if the president was going to pay for it, he’d be the first one to tell us.
While I don’t discount the fact that we will be bombarded with promotion of the event, it goes without saying that this stadium is a projection of the crowd. More importantly, if the crowds do not show up to watch this event, both the president and the UFC will have to disavow this ever happened.
