Francis Ngannou eyeing Jon Jones fight

December 11, 2025 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Francis Ngannou will be a free agent soon. Will a fight with Jon Jones be next?

Ngannou appeared on Ariel Helwani’s show to discuss a variety of issues including that his PFL contract is ending soon. When pressed, Ngannou said that his contract is ending “soon.”

Helwani asked if he would be interested in a Jon Jones fight at the White House Ngannou said that he would be and that his current PFL contract would end prior to the anticipated fight date of June 14, 2026.

Ngannou stated that it would be “complicated” to get a Jones fight. With the obvious complication being that Dana White has a personal grudge against him.

Alternatively, Ngannou stated that he would entertain re-signing with the PFL but he intimated that he is ready for a fight and the PFL has not offered anything.

Payout Perspective:

Never say never but its unlikely that Ngannou would return to the UFC. But its clear the only reason he wanted to be interviewed was to let it out that he was a free agent in 2026 and he is fight ready. Ngannou’s contract with PFL is over at the beginning of 2026 according to the former UFC heavyweight champion. Since signing with the PFL in 2023, he has only one fight with the company. You might recall, the company allowed him to fight Anthony Joshua and then created a whole division in Africa in which he would be the Chairperson. But, it seems as though Ngannou wants to fight again. At 39, there’s no much time left in his prime for a big-money fight.
