Due to the lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis, the exhibition fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis has been cancelled.
A press release, in part, obtained by MMA Junkie reads:
“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” said Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions.“While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.
Jake Paul took to X to give his own statement about the cancellation:

Notably, Paul writes, “I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved.” Paul went on to apologize to the undercard fighters on the card which was to air on Netflix.
Payout Perspective:
A smart move by Paul and MVP Promotions to distance themselves from the situation. While it’s likely that they are losing money, the event would have been marred by questions about Davis’s case as well as be the subject of potential public boycotts related to Davis. Although it’s my speculation, one has to believe that Netflix would not have wanted the bad publicity. The event itself featuring such a disparity in weight would have been an oddity. We will see what Paul does in 2026 to deliver for Netflix.
