UFC Fight Night 253 took place on Saturday Night at The Apex in Las Vegas. The promotion handed out 4 bonuses.
Undefeated Mario Pinto earned a $50K bonus for his KO of opponent Austen Lane. It was the promotional debut for Pinto and he made a great impression with the second round stoppage.
The victorious headliner, Manel Kape earned a TKO victory over Asu Almabayev with a third round stoppage. Despite the $50K win, there was some controversy in the fight as Kape had scraped the eyes of Asu Almabayev twice. The ref did not deduct points and while Kape was impressive, it was the only negative on the victory.
The Fight of the Night went to Nasrat Haqparast and Esteban Ribovics. Haqparast went on to win via split decision in an entertaining slugfest.
