Some interesting developments in the boxing world this past week as a proposed fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul set for this May was nixed at the last minute when the super middleweight title holder signed a 4-fight deal with the Saudis.
Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, guaranteed Alvarez a fight with Terence Crawford this September. Alvarez would have a “warm up” fight in May.
The former You-Tuber, coming off a win over Mike Tyson this past November, shot back at Alvarez for allegedly backing out of their deal.

Payout Perspective:
You can think of Jake Paul as being a pawn in Canelo Alvarez’s negotiations for a deal with Riyadh Season. I don’t think Alvarez intended to fight Paul as you might assume that Canelo does not respect him as a fighter on his level. Certainly, I think that Alvarez-Paul happens…but not yet. What this sets up for in the fall is probably the biggest fight in some time with Terrence Crawford taking on Canelo Alvarez. It will be interesting to see where the fight will take place. Vegas? Dallas Stadium? or the Middle East.
