The WWE announced that it has entered into a multi-year partnership with former WWE world champion for Hulk Hogan’s Real American Beer Strike.
The deal starts tonight as part of the big debut of WWE Raw streaming on Netflix.
Per portions of the press release:
As an official partner of WWE, Real American Beer will receive ring mat corner branding during every episode of Raw which makes its highly anticipated debut tonight on Netflix. Further, WWE will become a minority owner in the rapidly expanding company, which is now available in 20 states since its launch in June 2024.
Additionally, Real American Beer will receive social and digital support, including original, short-form content that will be distributed across WWE’s popular social and digital channels which reach more than 700 million users globally. WWE trademarks and Superstars will also be available for use on in-store point-of-sale materials and promotional displays throughout its growing network of retailers nationwide.
Notably, Hulk Hogan was ex-communicated from the WWE Universe for racist comments. The last we saw of Hogan, he was stumping for president-elect Donald Trump.
Payout Perspective:
This is an interesting move by WWE. Certainly, the company could have retained a bigger beer name to sponsor WWE Raw (Modelo anyone?). However, it decides to go with Hogan. Perhaps this is the WWE flexing its cache a la the UFC. The WWE has been far more cautious (than the UFC) with the way it presents its brand. Notably, it fired a wrestler (Odyssey Jones) during a big push for him on the Raw brand when it became known about past accusations of domestic violence. Yet, WWE has gone back to the well here with retread Hogan who for some reason to push this beer. One would think that the push would be to go for that A18-49 demo of which Hogan is not. There is a certain sect of WWE fan that will look away from some of the company’s conservative leanings due to its entertainment value. The UFC has gone the other way so much so that it now caters to “anti-woke” companies to sponsor them. We will see if WWE starts to lean right.
