McGregor ordered to pay over $1M US in attorney fees in Nikita Hand case

December 5, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Irish Times reports that as a result of a jury finding Conor McGregor liable for sexual assault, he is ordered to pay over $1 million US dollars (1 million euro) for the legal costs of Nikita Hand.

The costs are based on Hand being the prevailing party in the case and entitled to legal costs. Although a jury did not find McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence guilty of assault, the Judge did not issue an award of costs. In that case, both sides will pay their own legal bills. Although, The Irish Times reported that McGregor was paying for Lawrence’s legal costs, and in fact, they used the same lawyers.

The Judge also had stern words for McGregor with the possibility of holding him in contempt based on social media posts in which he made “an intemperate attack on the integrity of the jury” may involve “scandalising the court.” The Judge stated that the inference of impropriety will not be tolerated.
